Garden Room Bi fold Doors

During lockdown, a family in Wilmslow, Cheshire missed having the freedom to leave their house to socialise, so they decided to install a garden room complete with bi fold doors in their back garden, with plenty of seating and a bar. They chose a wooden garden room with 2 open sides, which meant that plenty of natural light would flood into the room if they were inside with the doors closed.

A structural steel support was installed to take the weight of the roof, which included a supporting ‘leg’ at the corner, where the two walls of glass meet. As the garden room was of a bespoke design, the family had the option of installing made-to-measure sliding doors or bi folding doors, or a combination of both.  Having given both options plenty of thought, they chose two sets of Aluminium Bi fold Doors, which would open independently of each other, giving them the flexibility of opening either side, depending on the weather and how the room was being used on a particular day.

Garden Room Bi fold Doors – Odd or Even number of sashes?

Bloors is a Reynaers at Home dealer and regularly installs Reynaers CF68 Bi fold Doors in homes and garden rooms in properties throughout towns and villages in Cheshire and Derbyshire. Bloors was asked to survey, supply and install the Bi fold doors for this garden room.  Fraser Bloor, Director at Bloors said “Garden Room Bi fold Doors are hugely popular as they give you the option of opening up a whole side of a room to create an almost seamless transition between indoors and outdoors. I usually recommend an odd number of door sashes, which allows one traffic door to be used as a single door on a regular basis, but also provides the freedom to open all sashes in one direction when needed. With an even number of sashes with all doors sliding in one direction, this will mean that the doors can only be opened from the inside and there will not be a single traffic door.”
